No, that's not a typo. Seventh-Day Adventists share many of the same beliefs with other Protestant religions; the most important being the acceptance of Jesus Christ as the Savior. However, they also have some "unique" doctrines, based entirely on the Bible, with some truths you may not know of. The following is a brief overview of the basic fundamental beliefs of the SDA Church. Click here for complete list of fundamental beliefs. The Bible is the uncompromising Word of God, made up of both the New and Old Testament. The Bible is the only creed. The Trinity is made up of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the Creator of all things. Man is made in the image of God, but has chosen to live in sin. There is a controversy between God and Satan: Good versus evil. Jesus died on the cross to save us from sin, through grace. He provided the only atonement for sin through his life, death, and resurrection. By grace we are saved through faith. We are set free from the burden of our sins through a continuing commitment to Christ. We confess our faith through baptism, full immersion in water. We obey The Law of God: The Ten Commandments as exemplified through Christ. The Sabbath is the 7th day of the week. It is a Holy convocation, a day of rest as described in the Ten Commandments. We practice Christian behavior which involves following in Christ's example. Christ will return in the Second Coming to reward the righteous dead and the righteous living with eternal life. Death is an unconscious state until the return of Christ. |
